Student profile

Kibabii University is the right place to pursue postgraduate studies. I never doubted this when I was processing my application, and now I just couldn’t be any prouder of myself. The hospitality of both staff and students has made my stay at Kibabii University so easy; I have never felt foreign in this place. In one month or so being at KIBU, I have experienced a vibrant environment with people full of life, always excited to take on whatever challenges that life throws in their way. I always look forward to another day to learn more about and from this rich and culturally diverse place.

Testimonial

Why did you choose Kibabii University? A number of reasons made me choose KIBU. First, when applying for the EAC/KFW Masters scholarship, only Kibabii University offered the programme of Masters in Human Resource Management. Second, although it is among of the youngest academic institutions in Kenya, this University is reputed for delivering the best education required to excel anywhere in the world. Third, I personally felt strong admiration for this university, for me it was the Harvard of the East African Community. Which aspects of the course do you think have been most beneficial to your career development? The Human resource management curriculum is presenting me with knowledge, skills and tools required to work on my projects effectively. I have so far been able to connect some dots using the courses of performance management, human resource management, human resource training and development. What is your favorite memory of KIBU? When I first came here, I was amazed by how everyone acted friendly towards me. It was a new experience for me given that it was the first time being outside my own country and not having met so many foreigners. The first people I met at the gate are best friends now. What are your plans after graduation? After graduation, I plan to go back and serve my country. My focus will be helping the public and private sector to increase productivity through better management of human resources. This will be achieved through providing expertise on effective hiring, training/development of human resources for maximum productivity and high quality of service. I wish also to set my ambition even higher and go for a PhD in Human Resource Management. What advice would you give to students progressing from your country to KIBU? If you have decided to come to Kibabii University, you are coming to right place. However, as the Chinese proverb reads: “Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself.” It is true KIBU has the best teachers everyone could ever wish but it is up to you to do the hard work, oftentimes even when you don’t feel like doing it. Therefore, my advice is be ready for the challenge and your effort, time, and money spent will pay off. By the end of the day, as the wise Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the greatest interest.”
