Angelo Bambura Arkangelo
Course: MBA
Year of Study: One
Nationality: South Sudanese
Why did you choose Kibabii University and your course?
KIBU is one of the prestigious universities in Kenya and the East African Region, despite being the youngest institution. It offers quality Education, and apart from this academic excellence, the University believes in Accountability, Transparency, and Integrity, which makes it so unique
However, deciding to do an MBA (Masters of Business Administration) program is an important one that requires plenty of consideration. I was happy to have applied and admitted for an MBA at Kibabii University because the program provides an opportunity for constant challenges and push someone to continuous improvement. It creates the room to do a lot of research before making any commitment, both in terms of time and money.
Which aspects of the course do you think have been most beneficial to your career development?
Studying the MBA program has brought me to constant challenges, learn about the latest issues and how to apply the newest business techniques in real life. From a management perspective, MBA contributes to the Broadening of Expertise. An MBA provides the ability to effectively analyze problems and how to think strategically and build strong organizations
What is your favorite memory of KIBU?
My favorite memory of KIBU was taken through the first week of being at the university and is associated with Kiswahili, a national language widely spoken in Kenya. It was amazing at the Orientation meeting where almost the lecturers spoke in a mix of English and Kiswahili. It was to their surprise to know that I wasn’t picking anything at some points. The wonder went on for a couple of days even in the lecture rooms until the lecturers and my fellow students had to minimize speaking it and It has become a challenge for me now to learn some basics.
What are your plans after graduation?
It depends on which door will open first I desire to serve my Country South Sudan or the region of East Africa in the broader area of the banking industries and financial institutions in the government domain or private sector. Depending on the opportunities after studies, I will also be grateful if I get an assignment in the university as a lecturer as that will help me to further my academic desire of obtaining a Ph.D. as soon as possible
What advice would you give to students progressing from your country to KIBU?
- The first step to success is knowing yourself, what you want and what skills needed to achieve your goal. Random sampling is not a tool to determine future as it will always be difficult to estimate your goal or predict the effect of your failure.
- Think to write two success books. There’s no doubt that most of the African children are born into poor families, therefore having success in Africa means you are to play both the role of a parent and your own role in order to succeed. Throw all the excuses of having born into a poor family, outside there is plenty of natural inheritance. Stop blaming and break the virginity of your surroundings, make your family and the community great.
- Try to minimize mistakes. Many people have failed today because they couldn’t avoid stupid mistakes. You may think mistakes are tools for learning that’s true if it was a mistake that has never existed before. Before making any major decisions, do enough research read books, journals, consult online line information, and ask expertise. If you do so, you will always have little to regret in life.
- Try to read enough when you are thirty and below because all your qualifications and experience depends on the number of books you have read. You never know if you will have enough time again for reading after getting a job.
- Kibabii University is the Center for academic excellence and will be great to be its product if you are one.
- Always remember to pray. Prayers don’t necessarily mean God will answer you through but having the belief that he’s there for you will help you attempt tough goals
