Kibabii University delegation attended the 16th Graduation Ceremony of Busitema University in Uganda on Friday, 28th November 2025. The event also featured the installation of the University’s 3rd Chancellor.

The delegation was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Planning, Partnerships, Research, and Innovation), Prof. Julius K. Maiyo, accompanied by Prof. John Makokha, Dr. Christine Nabwire, and Dr. Jacinta Mutwiwa. The visit was a follow-up to a successful initial partnership meeting held on 19th November 2025, geared towards building strategic academic and research bridges within the East African region.

The event marked by the formal installation of Eng. Dr. Prof. Badru M. Kiggundu as the 3rd Chancellor of Busitema University. The appointment was made by H.E. Gen. Yoweri K. Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda who was represented at the event by the Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth, Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs. Also in attendance was the Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo, Minister of State for Higher Education, highlighting the government’s support for the university sector.

To further solidify the growing partnership, the delegation from Kibabii University held a brief meeting after the graduation ceremony with the Vice Chancellor of Busitema University, Professor Paul Waako, and the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research, Associate Professor Saphina Biira. The discussions focused on advancing the collaborative agenda and building upon the areas of mutual academic and research interest already identified. The ongoing process of drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also confirmed, with a draft scheduled to be shared between the two institutions in the coming week.
